{"id":442,"date":"2023-01-02T15:53:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-02T15:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deltaworx.eu\/content\/?post_type=avada_faq&#038;p=442"},"modified":"2025-06-24T17:09:19","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T17:09:19","slug":"mag-ik-werken-als-jobstudent","status":"publish","type":"avada_faq","link":"https:\/\/deltaworx.eu\/content\/en\/faq-items\/mag-ik-werken-als-jobstudent\/","title":{"rendered":"Can I work as a job student?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can work under the 600-hour rule if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>are a student;<\/li>\n<li>old enough;<\/li>\n<li>not working when you are expected to attend training or other school activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Are you a student?<\/h5>\n<p>For the purpose of calculating social contributions, you are a student if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you are following a recognised course of study in secondary, higher or university education;<\/li>\n<li>studying is your main activity and any work is clearly secondary to it.\n<ul>\n<li>For example: an employee who adds a bachelor&#8217;s degree after working hours is not a student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>You are no longer a student if<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>you <strong>have a contract with an employer for 12 months or more<\/strong>. After these 12 months, you can no longer do a student job with that employer. From then on, you and your employer pay the normal social security contributions anyway. However, you can still get a job as a student with another employer.<\/li>\n<li>you attend<strong> night school<\/strong> or another form of education with a <strong>limited curriculum<\/strong>. Even then you can no longer do a student job.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is not always so easy to find out whether your main activity is student. In doubt about your situation? Then contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/.werk.belgie.be\/nl\/themas\/herstructurering\/toezicht-op-de-sociale-wetten\">Supervision of Social Acts of the FPS Work.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You must have reached a certain age to work as a job student.<br \/>\nYou can start working as a job student as soon as you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>16 years old;<\/li>\n<li>15 years old and have completed the first two years of secondary education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is not always so easy to work out whether your main activity is being a student. In doubt about your situation?
